New Years in Guntersville

We had the pleasure of getting away for New Years weekend to our most favorite retreat spot, Lake Guntersville. We took the camper and enjoyed a deer filled weekend with Brad, Marie & Grady. This is the first trip that we have seen so many deer. We saw so many bucks, that we could not keep them straight and deteremine if we were seeing the same ones! They were everywhere! Of course, it helps if you dump out a bag of corn for them to come and snack on. But at Guntersville, the deer are so used to the people, pets and noise that it does not deter them from coming out every afternoon - corn or not!
While there, we took a short drive over to Cathedral Caverns in Woodville, near Huntsville. It is the nations largest cave opening spannig 125 ft wide and 24 ft high. It was a very interesting trip, but a long walk! 4,000 feet into the cave and then back out with a toddler & no stroller = exhaustion! Logan gave out about 3/4 of the way in, then Brian & I took shifts carrying him back out. We had no clue it was such a long walking tour. Of course, as the saying goes, now we know.
It was quite an amazing display of creation and was mind boggling to think of how things were different thousands of years ago.

It was great to welcome in 2010 with a happy, healthy family & friends. I pray for God's blessings on you and yours as we dive into a New Year!
